BLIND BAG SERIES 2

The second series of the SoccerStarz Blind Bag included over 100 figures, so there really was something for every collector.

Series 2 contained all of those previously released in series 1, a decision which divided collectors. Some were pleased to still have the chance to find figures from series 1 inside the new bags, others had collected all of series 1 and was purely looking for the new figures. It has to be mentioned that the chances of finding a figure from series 1 inside the new bags was less than that of a new figure. My personal opinion is that Series 2 should have consisted entirely of new figures.

Arsenal had Miyaichi, Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla, Gervinho, Koscielny, Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain added as new figures. In addition SoccerStarz included updated versions of Szczesny and Wilshere with thier new squad numbers, so Szczesny could be found with #13 and #1, with Wilshere released with #19 and #10.

Chelsea collectors had new figures of Luiz, Cahill, Bertrand, Romeu, Mikel, Hazard, Ramires and Ivanovic. 3 new Liverpool figures were added to the ranks, those being Agger, Skrtel and Borini. It is also worth mentioning that the Glen Johnson SoccerStarz found in the series 2 blind bag has noticebly more facial hair than the blister pack version.

Manchester United fans had another 11 SoccerStarz to collect, they are Van Persie, Scholes, Ferguson, Smalling, Jones, Hernandez, Wellbeck, Kagawa, Valencia, Rafael and Cleverly.

Spurs were released inside a Blind Bag for the first time, with all 9 also being released in Blister pack, those 9 being Friedel, Dawson, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Parker, Bale, Defoe, Lennon and Walker.

Series 2 also saw the inclusion of the 2 Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid! Both teams had 15 SoccerStarz released, the Barcelona line up is - Valdes, Puyol, Alba, Pique, Alves, Busquetts, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Song, Thiago, Pedro, Fabregas, Sanchez and Villa.

The 15 released for Real Madrid were - Mourinho, Casillas, Pepe, Marcelo, Coentrao, Alonso, Khedira, Ozil, Ronaldo, Higuain, Benzema, Modric, Di Maria, Arbeloa and Ramos.

It was strange that neither Barcelona or Real Madrid featured on the CDU, Blind Bag or anywhere on the collector file found inside the blind bag. Two iconic teams such as this, yet no mention was made to their inclusion anywhere on the outer packaging, something which would have easily attracted new and old collectors alike to the product.

The Series 2 Blind Bag also featured 2 CHASERS, which were Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda in the Chelsea Home 2011/12 kit, which is the EXACT same figure as found inside the Chelsea UEFA Champions League Winners 2011/12 box set. This inclusion gave collectors the chance to obtain these 2 figures on all base colours, as the figures had previously just been released on BLUE base inside the box set. The figures were not advertised as Chaser figures by the producers of SoccerStarz, there was no mention of their inclusion anywhere on the packaging, or inside the leaflet found inside each bag, which would indicate it was not a decision made prior to the series being released, instead used as a way of including stock they could not otherwise have sold seperatly.

Each SoccerStarz figure could be found on any of the 7 base colours, GREEN, RED, BLUE, WHITE, SILVER, GOLD and BLACK! With the huge number of figures included and variety of base colours, it did make it frustratingly impossible for many collectors to find the figure on the base colour they wanted.

The Blind bags were once again released in 9 and 18 CDU's (counter display unit) and had an RRP of just £1.99 per blind bag. Manchester United once again had thier own specific Blind Bag.
