Manchester United 2013/14 Season Team Pack
The 2013/14 Premier League season would turn out to be a very turbulent one for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson had stepped down as manager, with fellow Scot David Moyes stepping into the Old Trafford hot seat, United fans knew it would be a season of change, however few would have predicted the season which followed.
Manchester United struggled for form and perfomances throught the season, the side never fully clicking in to gear or delivering the kind of football the team had become so very famous for. They crashed out of the League Cup on penalties to Sunderland, fell at the 4th round stage of the FA Cup to Swansea and were beaten over 2 legs by Bayern Munich at the round of 16 stage in the UEFA Champions League, the pressure continued to mount on Moyes, with the stress having a very visual affect on the manager.
On Tuesday the 22nd of April, Manchester United took the decision to sack manager David Moyes just 10 months into his 6 year contract, with Ryan Giggs taking over as interim manager for the final 4 games of the season.
SoccerStarz were requested to produce this 2013/14 season team pack by the club and it was of course released prior to the sacking of Moyes. The 24 figure pack features the Manager David Moyes and a 23 man squad, with Summer signings Marouane Fellaini and Wilfried Zaha being included. It was strange to see Dutchman Alexander Buttner ommited from the pack, he eas left out of the Premier League Winners 2012/13 box set too, i can only assume this was due to the stock levels of Buttner not being sufficient enough to include him.
The box set was priced very reasonably at just £45, far less than the £75 of the league winners box set which had the vast majority of the same SoccerStarz included. The reason for the price point pack was of course to try clear the stock of the Manchester United SoccerStarz and with the popularity of Moyes waining, it was a wise move to rush the pack and capitalise on as many sale opportunities as possible. Had the pack been delayed slightly it could of course have included January signing Juan Mata, however collectors had to wait until June to get their hands on the single blister pack of the Spaniard in United kit.
All 24 SoccerStarz were produced on a GREEN base and each figure came with a collector card. The pack was limited to just 900 pieces World wide and came with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The kit is EXACTLY the same as all previous Manchester United SoccerStarz, despite it being a 13/14 release, they were all in the same kit as released in the 2012/13 colleciton and the 2012/13 league winners box set.
